We have been busy using our Smartboards and 12 Ipads. Students have been so engaged in their learning and are also teaching me a few things! lol

We have also been synergizing during recess in our new courtyard. Thanks to Mrs. Doderer for her kind donations we have been staying active.

We also enjoyed our amazing author visit by David Catrow, all I can say is WOW!!!!!! How he can take something and make it into a picture, just amazing. Students really enjoyed.

Sharpen the Saw

Well our time at Canyon Ridge has come to an end. We will miss all our friends who’ve made our stay wonderful. We are very excited to be finally moving into our new building. I hope you are able to Sharpen the Saw with your family over this holiday break. I will see you all next year. Merry Christmas/Feliz Navidad/Happy Hanukkah and enjoy your break.

Students did a fabulous job with their Ornaments for the Planet. Here are a few pictures of the finished project. They worked with their 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Sheffield’s class. They all were so excited and they came out beautiful.

A big shout out to Mrs. Wilson for donating some fun games for us to use on Fun Friday!!!! The kids were so excited and had so much fun. Many thanks!!! Fun Friday is a time for students to earn fun activities for a week of hard work. Their goal is to stay above green on our Leader board. How do they do this you ask? Displaying leader qualities, sharing, helping other students, good choices, positive behavior. Way to go Lions!

Soil Recipe-YUM-O

Sweet and Salty Soil Recipe

Ingredients:

Chocolate Jello pudding Cup

2-3 pretzel sticks

2 Gummy Worms

2 Oreo cookies

 

Instructions:

  1. Place the Oreo cookies in a baggie. Crush the cookies into smaller pieces. The cookies will represent rocks in the soil.
  2. Break your pretzel sticks into different sized pieces. The pretzel sticks will represent sticks or twigs in the soil.
  3. Mix the pudding, pretzel stick pieces, gummy worms, and Oreo cookie chunks together in a cup. Enjoy!

Daily 5 Working with Words

 

Daily 5 is in full swing. Students have been introduced to all 5 stations and small group guided reading has begun. They are excited to begin using all there reading and writing skills we have been working on. We have also begun using our Ipads for word work as well as listen to reading. Students are very engaged and I am seeing lots of progress. Way to go Lions!!!!
