3rd Grade Creates Digital Versions of Their Zoom Pics

Today’s post is brought to you by Alexa, our blogger, and Luke, our photographer.

Today on the iPads, we did ‘’Would You Rathers?’’.  All of the “Would You Rathers?” involved math because all of them had numbers that you had to multiply, add, etc. We also made slideshows that showed pictures of places or things that were re-zoomed.  Re-zoom means to make a picture, then on your next picture you would draw the same thing, but smaller with more things on the sides. We also thought of a problem we had, then we came up with five why’s.  After that we came up with the answer to all of the questions and came up with a possible solution to fix the problem we had.

3rd Grade “Zooms” In on Systems

Today’s blog post is brought to you by our author, Luke, and our photographer, Jordan. In addition to “Re-zoom” the students worked on making a green screen video about some of the animals we are helping this year at Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, watched a Powers of 10 video, and started our next systems thinking book, Billibonk and the Big Itch.

Hi! This is Luke, and I am bringing you today`s blog post. Today, in 3rd grade G.T., we read a book. It was called Re-zoom. In the book, we looked at a picture and on the next page it zoomed out. After that, we watched a video on “things that are not what they seem to be.” Then, we made a re-zoom book on paper and shared them with the class. At the end of G.T. our class took home all of our papers from the year. I hope you enjoyed my post for today! Have an awesome week!

3rd Grade Zooms in on Systems

The 3rd graders had a challenge today to order the pages of a picture book called Zoom. I had cut apart the book and mixed up the pictures. I passed them out, and they worked together to sequence them – without talking. They successfully completed the task, and then we talked about how it related to our Toyota field trip and the Billibonk book we recently finished.

We discussed perspectives, and how what we see can change dramatically based on our point of view (ask them about our pencil/clockwise activity). I showed them a video and an interesting website that related to this, and the links are in their Edmodo accounts so they can share them with you.
