2nd Grade Discusses Adaptations

The 2nd graders are learning about the physical/structural and behavioral adaptations of animals and plants.  They watched a short video explaining the difference and then played some interactive games to practice their learning on the white board.  We talked about the “Big Idea” of adaptations.

We also worked more on some “Graphene Trampoline” puzzles from Math Pickle.  Show this to your GT student, and see if he or she can explain how to do these complicated puzzles!

2nd Grade Researches Animal Adaptations

The 2nd graders learned about the differences between structural and behavioral adaptations in animals this week.  They used the Wildkrats site on the laptops to research animals from around the world, and their “superpowers.”  For example, the octopus has the physical/structural adaptation to shoot ink out to escape its predators.  In the next couple of weeks. the students will be choosing a specific structural adaptation to study. They will then try to invent a new product for humans based on that adaptation.
