In class today, the 1st graders started with some divergent thinking by brainstorming “things that grow”. After they finished their lists, we talked about some things that grow that aren’t alive, such as bank accounts or temperatures. I noticed one student put “love” on her list, though she didn’t share it. I thought that was a fabulous answer!
Some of the students were able to finish up their Japanese postcards on the iPads, and the others did some research on the Kids Web Japan site to complete some analogies comparing Japan to the United States. I think I might have introduced that a bit too quickly, so we are going to have some more analogy practice next class.
