Scholarships & Financial Aid

General Financial Aid Information

Many of the following programs and services require students to establish their eligibility, or financial need, by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may complete the FAFSA application beginning October 1, 2016 until June 30, 2018 for the 2017-2018 school year. This application can be completed through the electronic form or by the paper form. These forms can only be completed once your parents’ 2015 income tax returns have been completed.

  • Scholarships are available to those who show evidence of outstanding academic performance. Some scholarships may also require that you show financial aid eligibility.
  • Grants, like scholarships, do not have to be repaid. The demand for grants is great, and there is limited funding available. Therefore, students with the highest financial aid eligibility are likely to receive this type of award.
  • Employment through the federal or state Work Study Program is available to students who show financial aid eligibility and who want to work part-time during the academic year. Most employment opportunities are on campus.
  • Long Term Student Loans are available at low interest rates through the Federal Family Educational Loan programs. Some loans do not accrue interest, and none require repayment until you have been out of school for six months. Remember that loans must be repaid.

Each college or university has a Financial Aid/Scholarship Office. Contact your university for assistance with scholarships, grants, employment and loan opportunities.

Attention ALL 18 Year Old Males:

You need to register with the Selective Service System. If you do not register, you could lose the right to federal student loans and grants, scholarships, or many federal jobs.

Register at the Post Office or online at www.sss.gov
