Systems and the Brain

The past fews weeks for Third Grade have been spent learning about ourselves, our classmates and of course the expectations in our G/T Third Grade class.  The students have set up their Interactive Notebooks and even started working in them.  They have discussed all they know about Systems and we are now adding onto that knowledge.  After reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff, the class was able to see a cycle of events and learn about causal loops.  Now, with some Systems understanding, we are moving into our study of the brain.  The class told me early in our discussions that the brain was definitely a major part of the human body which was their number one example of a system.  They did some exploring on iPads to get an overview of the basic brain ideas and questions they have as we begin our study.
