The Best Part of Me
Our class is studying poetry for a couple of weeks so we thought we would try to write some free verse poems to describe our favorite part of ourselves. Some of us say our hands are the best part. Some say our legs, brains, our feet, because without them we couldn’t dance.
We began the lesson by reading Wendy Ewald’s book, The Best Part of Me. I took black and white pictures and the only instruction the kids had was to describe their favorite part of themselves and to include the words “the best part of me” in their poems.
I can’t wait to see the results!
