Example Below:
Hello Class,
I really enjoyed reading The Screaming Staircase, by Jonathan Stroud, because it has the elements of several genres at the same time – mystery, fantasy, horror, adventure and a science fiction dystopia where ghosts come out at night to cause harm and bring fear to the people of London.  Adults have come to rely on brave children to fight these ghosts because children are the only ones who can see them – and this ability fades as people get older.
As I read the book, I felt scared because the ghosts were dangerous and the main characters, Lucy Carlyle and Anthony Lockwood were hired to destroy them.  The world filled with ghosts seemed very real to me and Lucy and Anthony had to rely on their preparation, research, courage and quick-thinking to survive.  I really liked the fact that the adults of London depended on the young to protect them from the evil ghosts.
Thanks for reading!
