3rd period ACL Non-fiction: Black Boy by Richard Wright

Hey class,

I am reading the book called Black Boy by Richard Wright. This book is about a boy that lives with strick, religious women and mean, irresponsible men. He reads instead of playing with kids and is even more out of place with the worlds racism, as this book was published in 1945. When the father deserts the family young Wright ventures into the white world to find jobs but is hit with racism and brutality which stays with him for the rest of his life.

Some things that interets me in this topic is the way that whites treated others not of their color in this time period. It is so diffrent from our centry and I find it interesting that back then it was a common thing to do. They would make African Americans seem like monsters and if you did that in our day today you would be get alot of bad attention and in trouble. Im glad that our time period has equality because if blacks and whites were still seperated, this world would be a very bad place.

thanks for reading,

Taylor b

Hi Taylor, I totally agree with you on how the world is better without racism and with equality,i have to wonder, if you were born back then would you help the blacks or would you just keep quiet and go with the flow, (thinking about how they treated people who wanted to defend the blacks)? Sincerely, Paola
