5th Period Making Connections Orphan Train Christina Baker Kline

Hello class,
I have been reading a historical fiction, by Christina Baker Kline, called Orphan Train. From the 1850s to the 1930s, trains carried many orphans to an awaiting future. Whether their futures would be bad or good, well, there was no telling. An Irish girl named Vivian Daly visits her original home near NYC. While there she befriends a girl, Molly Ayer, who helps Vivian uncover strange things in her old attic. Together they search for answers that might help lead them to figure out their pasts. But not just theirs, every orphan who had been sent away on those trains.
This book reminds me of another book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, because like Vivian Daly, the four kids were sent off on trains away from their home. I can live differently from reading this book because it was a good example of finding yourself and believing in your intuition. Also, I always like reading historical books (fiction or not) because they encourage me to read more about history.
Thanks for reading,
Monroe P
