5th Period Language To Kill a Mockingbird By Harper Lee

Hello class,

This week I am reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, a book about a girl named Scout and her brother Jem. They adventure across this town called Maycomb as the two learn about the wonders of a house on their street which houses a man called Boo Radley. They do not know this man at all so their are myths of this man and his actions. This book was made into a great movie that is still treasured today. I really love the way that Harper Lee described characters and setting in To Kill a Mockingbird; On page 40, she describes Scout’s teacher, Miss Caroline.
“Miss Caroline was no more than twenty-one. She had bright auburn hair, pink cheeks, and wore crimson fingernail polish. She also wore high-heeled pumps and a red-and-white-striped dress. She looked and smelled like a peppermint drop.”
I look forward to more of this in To Kill a Mockingbird!
