5th ACL luanguage: 39 Clues One False Note- Gordon Korman

39 clues

Hello class,

I am currently reading book two of the 39 Clues series. Amy(14) and Dan(11) Cahill and their AU pair (Nellie) are the protagonist and they are trying to find all 39 clues left by their grandmother Grace(deceased). Who ever finds the clues will be rich and possibly rule the world.Grace Cahill wanted Dan and Amy to win. In this book they start of in a old train headed to Vienna when they are attacked by the Holts (other members of the Cahill family) until a train conductor threatens to call police and the holts jump off. Now Amy and Dan have the find all the clues before her evil relatives do to help protect the world.

Crypt (on page 65)  is a new word for me. I think it might mean a place where many people are buried  because previous sentences state that they are looking for Narnell’s grave under the church. I also dissected the the sentence it was used in.

“‘Show some respect. One of the others in her crypt is Michael Haydn, the famous composer, and one of Mozart’s biggest supporters.”‘

If Mozart was born over 300 years ago and Michael Haydn was one of his biggest supporters he is also over 300 years old. So we know for a fact that he is long dead. When someone dies you put their bodies in a coffin. So therefore I can conclude that a crypt is a place underneath a church were coffins are stored. You could also use root words to find out the meaning of crypt because it sounds like the Latin word crypta that comes from the Greek word krypte which means hidden vault. I would recommend the book to anybody with a short attention span looking for an adventure filled book.

Sincerely,

Alex W

Why are the Holts evil? Why don’t work together with Dan and Amy?
