7th Period Open ended prompt Hidden by Helen Frost

Hidden-211x300
Hello class,
Today I would like to talk about a book I have recently finished, Hidden by Helen Frost. This book revolves around the stories of Wren and Darra. Fate pushes these two girls together when Darra`s father steals Wren`s mother`s minivan and unknowingly kidnaps Wren who is hiding in the backseat. Later though the two girls encounter each other at a summer camp. This forces them to see the situation from the other`s perspective.
As I read this book I felt a mix of hope and hopelessness which is a extremely rare and beautiful phenomenon to find in a work of literature. I felt this way because even though in certain moments of the book the characters feel, and thus you feel, helpless and hopeless yet the author lets in a glimmer of hope that something good may be coming. This is a great achievement for any author. Hidden is an emotional journey that is destined to pull on your heart strings. This book is a truly excellent read.
                                                                                                                                                                                                             Thanks for reading,
Sloane W.

Hi Sloane – This book is also a novel in verse – why do you think the author chose this style of writing to tell the story? How did this style affect the way you felt about reading it?
