5th period ACL Inferring/Predicing Bruiser – By Neal Shusterman

Hello Class
This month I am reading Bruiser by Neal Shusterman. This realistic fiction book is about a teenager named Tennyson, his sister, Brontë ,and her boyfriend, Bruiser. Tennyson has the power to heal cuts and bruises immediately, and Bruiser has the power to absorb the physical and mental pains of the ones he loves.
I think that Bruiser and Tennyson will use their powers together to protect each other and Tennyson’s sister. I infer this because I just found out that they both have these powers. Bruiser absorbs, and Tenny heals. And all either of them wants to do is protect Brontë, and I’m sure that is exactly what they will do. I really want to finish this book to find out what they will use their powers for and how it will help others.
Sincerely,
Alex O

Hi Alex – Thanks for your post! I’ve also read Bruiser. As a librarian, I had a hard time deciding which genre to choose for this book! It seems to fit several. In which genre would YOU put Bruiser? Why?

Hello Mrs.Hirst, I would put this under realistic fiction genre. I put it under this genre because these scenarios could actually happen in modern day America. Although some of these powers that characters have are impossible, that is what make it fiction.
