6th Period Making Connections- Looking For Alaska By John Green

Hello Friends
I am currently reading, Looking For Alaska by John Green. Looking For Alaska is a book about Miles Halter, a teenage boy who decides he’s done with his boring old high school and is ready to try something new. He begins to attend to Culver Creek boarding school, where he will meet some of his best friends. One of them being Alaska Young. Alaska is free-spirited girl who goes where ever the wind takes her. She doesn’t mind being the girl who doesn’t follow the rules or the girl who is talked about. When Miles meets Alaska he knows from the get go he has to learn more about Alaska, the beautiful yet self-destructive girl. As Miles begins to talk to Alaska they become friends and share crazy experiences together. Such as pranking the snobby rich kids, to Miles first cigarette. But the one thing Miles doesn’t know about Alaska is her past, and how it is yet to affect her future.

Reading Looking For Alaska has inspired to live differently by talking about all of the dangers to alcohol and drugs and how they can drastically change your life. In Boarding School being away from their parents Miles and Alaska see it as an oppurtunity to go crazy and do whatever they want. But I believe If you were going to a boarding school you would need to prove to them you could handle being by yourself.

Thanks for Reading

How could you learn from Alaska’s mistakes? What could you do to ensure your parents could trust you if you were away from them?

Whenever Alaska makes a mistake, it always has a ripple effect on everything else. One way to learn from Alaska’s mistakes for me is to just stay out of harm’s way all in all. I would ensure that my parents could trust me by calling them, and talk about the progress I’m making in school. Did you read the book?
