6th period acl making connections- The Scorch Trials

Hello 6th period,
I am currently reading The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, it’s the second book in the science fiction book trilogy The Maze Runner. I’m almost finished with the book and it has had me hooked since the beginning. After finishing the first book in the trilogy I didn’t know what to expect. Were the Gladers and Thomas safe or not? Were the so called rescuers really rescuing them?  In this second book they thought they were safe, but the second trials had only just begun. They find that they have two weeks to escape and in order to survive they must solve problems that seem impossible to solve.  They struggle to make it through the city in the daylight.  If they reach the “safe haven” they can get a cure from the disease they were told they have.  The book details their journey through Thomas’ perspective.  There are many new characters and a lot of unexpected betrayals that take place throughout the book.

This book reminded me of the book, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, because it is a book about survival.  The characters in both books learn how to cope with the environment around them and survive on their own.  The two main characters in each book are both very strong willed independent people that will do what is necessary to survive no matter what obstacles are put in their way.
Thanks for reading,
Karly R.

I think the cranks are very vicious because of how they act since the Flare has taken over their brains and they have been stripped of their humanity.
