7th Period ACL Open-Ended-Prompts: The Crimson Crown

Hey guys,
I enjoyed the book, The Crimson Crown, mainly because it’s a book based off magic and sorcery, and follows a man named Han as he combats the troubles of surviving a national attack from the nearby countries. While the main genre of the book is fantasy, I believe it held many other qualities, because, throughout the book, it made you sad, mad, nervous, and downright worried for the characters.
However, I didn’t like how every few chapters it would change perspective, because the other character’s life was pretty boring, and I found it hard to pay attention. The main character would literally switch every few chapters. I wish they had simply let the story follow Han, and his journey.
Thanks for reading!

Hi Zachary – why do you think the author chose to switch perspectives every few chapters?

I think it did that, probably to build suspense. The time you had to wait between chapters, gave you time to think about what could happen. You can’t wait until the next time you read in the same perspective, and it drives you mad to waiting. The fact that you could be reading something more interesting makes it almost tempting to skip chapters.
