I decided to learn more about it. Did you know that most astronomers believe the Big Bang Theory explains it? The theory is that everything that made up space was in a little ball called a singularity? Well, nobody knows why but the theory is that singularity exploded. It sent time and matter everywhere. That is the theory of how the universe started.
It was extremely hot- about ten thousand million, million degrees! After it cooled down, the planets, stars, and galaxies started to form. It is still expanding to this day. An example of this concept is found in baking. As you bake raisin bread, it is cooking the raisins. They start to spread out in all different directions. Think of the raisins as the stars and galaxies expanding after the singularity exploded. The evidence shows that it actually exploded 13.7 billion years ago!
The Big Bang was not always wildly accepted. It was first introduced by a Belgian priest and astronomer named Georges Lamaitre. Later,an American astronamer named Edwin Hubble got more proof that the big bang happened and not only did the stars and galaxies expand, but all matter has taken the same amount of time to get to where it is today, starting from a single point. Over time, people have found more proof that the Big Bang really did occur. In fact, one telescope was able to see so far that it found leftovers of the radiation that made the Big Bang.
